AS8879 DTS-SYSTEME DTS Systeme GmbH

DTS-SYSTEME is the network of DTS Systeme GmbH, an IT service provider and data-centre operator headquartered in Herford, North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded in 1983 and now part of the DTS Group (DTS IT AG), it runs certified data centres in Herford and Hamburg and sells managed hosting, cloud and cyber-security services to German business customers.

What it's used for

Managed hosting and customer connectivity. Around 32,000 IPv4 addresses across seven prefixes, plus IPv6, with 108 observed BGP neighbours — a well-peered regional provider rather than a transit carrier. The sampled reverse DNS shows exactly the pattern you would expect from a system house that also runs a data centre:

• DTS's own infrastructure — anycast-gw.dts-online.net.
• static customer assignments named after the customer's own domain, e.g. static-IP-ADDR.westfleisch.de (a Münster meat cooperative) and static-IP-ADDR.schauinslandreisen.de (a Duisburg tour operator).

Notable

• The customer-named reverse DNS is the key evidence. This space carries other companies' servers and sites under DTS management, which makes it hosting rather than an enterprise network or an eyeball ISP. There is no dsl-/pppoe-/dyn- naming anywhere.
• Prefixes from several different /8s (81.89, 84.201, 212.62, 212.101) reflect address blocks accumulated over a long operating history, not brokered inventory: they carry DTS's own and its customers' first-party reverse DNS.
• The -online.net domain is a leftover from DTS's earlier ISP-flavoured branding; the business today is data centre, cloud and security.
