GLOBALCONNECT-NET — the primary peering and transit AS of GlobalConnect, the

Nordic fibre, data-centre and connectivity group. The AS number is held by

GlobalConnect AB, the Swedish entity.

What it's used for

• Unified IP transit and peering for the GlobalConnect group. The registry object states plainly that AS6797 is the group's single peering and transit point, with its regional networks transitioning behind it: AS31027 (Denmark and Germany), AS12552 (Sweden and Finland) and AS2116 (Norway).
• BGP communities on the AS tag traffic by country across Denmark, Finland, Åland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Notable

• The holder has changed: this number was previously associated with Phonera / Port80, then passed through the IP-Only lineage (the maintainer on the object is still IP-ONLY-MNT) before GlobalConnect consolidated the Nordic operators. Describe it as GlobalConnect today, not Phonera.
• This is a carrier backbone, not an eyeball network — the regional consumer and business services sit behind the group's other AS numbers.

• The consolidation is visible in the routing table: a single low AS number is gradually absorbing the peering footprint of three separate national networks.
