AS8866 VIVACOM-AS BULGARIA

Vivacom Bulgaria EAD (VIVACOM-AS) — the principal network of Bulgaria's

incumbent telecom operator, the former Bulgarian Telecommunications Company.

The rDNS still carries the old identity throughout: everything resolves under

btc-net.bg.

What it's used for

• Mass-market fixed broadband. The overwhelming majority of the space uses generic per-address naming of the form IP-ADDR.ip.btc-net.bg, the classic signature of a national incumbent's subscriber pools. Interleaved with them are the access and core routers that serve those pools: hosts named var-bras-1 and similar are BRAS units — broadband remote access servers, the equipment that terminates household DSL and fibre sessions.
• Backbone and metro transport, visible as core routers named for the cities they sit in (plo-cr-1, har-cr-1 — Plovdiv, Haskovo).
• A minority of business and hosting assignments carry customer names directly (mail2.master-bg.com, dsrv1.comsoft.bg), alongside a block still under telnet.bg, an ISP absorbed into the group.

Notable

• Large eyeball address space: roughly 770,000 IPv4 addresses across close to a thousand prefixes, plus an extensive IPv6 deployment (over 200 announced v6 prefixes) — unusually thorough dual-stack for the region.
• Vivacom is a converged fixed-and-mobile operator, but the evidence in this AS is fixed broadband: BRAS naming and static per-IP pools, not the APN and carrier-grade NAT naming a mobile core produces.
