AMANET-AS belongs to AMA netwoRX GmbH, a network service provider registered in Glödnitz, Carinthia, and licensed with Austria's regulator RTR. Despite the small address footprint it is a carrier: PeeringDB lists it as an NSP with a European scope, and RIS observes roughly 108 BGP neighbours against fewer than 8,000 IPv4 addresses.

What it's used for

Wholesale transit and interconnection for Austrian and regional networks, with some directly-served fibre customers on the side. The neighbour-to-address ratio is the giveaway: an operator this small in address terms with a peer count in the hundreds is selling connectivity, not consuming it.

The sampled reverse DNS shows both roles. lo666.rt01.vie.ama-networx.net is the operator's own router loopback in Vienna. rt.kelag-connect.at is a router belonging to KELAG, the Carinthian energy utility's telecoms arm. And 1-91-227-185.fiber4yout.at / 0-89-227-185.fiber4you.at are reversed-octet end-customer pools under the fiber4you Austrian FTTH brand.

Notable

• The inventory looks scattered (sixteen prefixes spread across 185.x, 45.155.x, 146.19.x, 37.186.x and older 19x blocks) but it is single-RIR RIPE space carrying coherent first-party and downstream Austrian rDNS. This is an acquisitive small carrier, not an address broker.
• Downstream customer brands appear in the rDNS of space this AS originates, which is what a transit provider's inventory looks like from the outside.
