AS9419 NTU-AS-AP Nanyang Technological University

AS9419 (NTU-AS-AP) is held by Nanyang Technological University, one of Singapore's two large public research universities. It is the campus autonomous system: a single university carrying its own students, staff, halls of residence and research computing, rather than a service provider selling connectivity to anyone else.

What it's used for

The routing evidence is textbook campus network. The AS originates 4 IPv4 prefixes covering 65,536 addresses, and all of them fall inside 155.69.0.0/16 — a single legacy /16 from the era when a university could still be handed a classful block, announced as a whole plus a few more-specific covering routes (155.69.64.0/19, 155.69.96.0/23, 155.69.1.0/24) that are almost certainly there to steer traffic across more than one upstream. No IPv6 prefixes were seen in the RIS view. Against that 65k of address space the AS is observed with only about 11 BGP neighbours, which is the decisive signal: a wholesale or transit carrier of any size peers with hundreds of networks, while an institution that only needs to reach the internet for its own users buys from a couple of providers and peers at the local exchange. Everything here says single-site consumer of transit, not seller of it.

• The whole footprint is one /16, 155.69.0.0/16 — a legacy university allocation, which is why the address count is high relative to how few prefixes and neighbours the AS actually has.
• The low neighbour count rules out any transit or hosting role; this space serves NTU's own campus.
