SINGNET is the internet service provider arm of Singtel, Singapore's incumbent

telecommunications operator, and one of the country's largest consumer and

business ISPs.

What it's used for

• Retail internet access in Singapore: residential broadband, business connectivity, and the associated ISP services (mail, DNS, customer platforms).
• Announces a large legacy IPv4 footprint — hundreds of thousands of addresses — most of it eyeball space handed out to subscribers.

Notable

• This is eyeball address space: traffic seen from here is overwhelmingly end users on home and business broadband in Singapore, so it is a common source for consumer web and streaming traffic.
• SingNet was one of Singapore's first commercial internet providers, and the low AS number reflects how early the country's national operator got online.

Interesting

• The ASN is registered with ARIN rather than APNIC. That is a legacy artifact: SingNet's resources predate APNIC's takeover of the Asia-Pacific region, and the records simply stayed where they were originally created.
