AS8903 is the peering and transit AS of Lyntia Networks S.A., Spain's largest

neutral wholesale fibre operator, run from Alcobendas (Madrid) with a nationwide

network of tens of thousands of route-kilometres built largely along electricity and

gas rights-of-way.

What it's used for

• Wholesale carriage: dark and lit fibre, transit and capacity sold to other operators, ISPs and large enterprises rather than to end users.
• Around 173k IPv4 addresses over 110 prefixes plus IPv6, with roughly 105 observed BGP neighbours. The neighbour count is the real size signal — it is the shape of a carrier, not of an eyeball network.

Notable

• The AS carries a visible BT España inheritance. Sampled rDNS on its anchor block 212.49.128.0/18 returns popmbta1-feth0-0-0.net.bt.es, and the AS is still listed in the AS-BT-ES ("BT Global Spain customers") route set. The AS number was allocated in 1998, and the space and naming came across with the business.
• Ownership has changed hands repeatedly among infrastructure funds — Antin, then a consortium of AXA IM Alts and Swiss Life in 2023, with Morrison & Co taking a third in 2024. The network kept running throughout; only the cap table moved.
