AS8758 IWAY

iWay AG (IWAY) — a Zurich-based Swiss internet provider founded in 1995,

selling broadband, VoIP, TV and mobile to households and small businesses across

Switzerland, alongside hosting and cloud services.

What it's used for

• Consumer and SME internet access. iWay does not own much last-mile plant of its own: it resells fibre and DSL over Swisscom's wholesale BBCS product and over municipal utility FTTH networks, and its rDNS says exactly that. Addresses resolve as D.C.B.A.bbcs.as8758.net (Swisscom wholesale access) and D.C.B.A.ftth.as8758.net (fibre), with the octets reversed.
• Several netnames are blunter still: AS8758-DYNAMIC-DSL-DHCP-POOL covers a number of the /22s.

Notable

• This is an eyeball network — roughly 159,000 IPv4 addresses that mostly sit behind residential CPE, not servers. iWay is a meaningful fraction of Swiss end-user population despite being far smaller than Swisscom or Sunrise.
• The prefix list is scattered across many small blocks, but every one is registered in Switzerland under iWay's own AS8758-MNT maintainer (or that of a partner utility such as SAK, whose FTTH pools it also announces). Untidy, but a real operator's own space.

Interesting

• 125.3.64.0/19 and 155.2.224.0/19 sit in what were originally APNIC and ARIN ranges, yet both are RIPE objects registered in Switzerland. Inferring a network's region from the historical owner of its /8 would put Swiss homes in Asia-Pacific and North America.
