AS8666 FIBERLINK-AS

FIBERLINK-AS is FiberLink GmbH of Vienna — an Austrian company, not a

German one, despite the GmbH in the name. It grew out of the Austrian hosting

scene of the mid-2000s and today sells network and IT services from data centres

in Vienna, plus presence in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich.

What it's used for

• Hosting, colocation and managed network services. The name suggests a fibre access carrier, but the business is server-side infrastructure.

Notable

• The IPv4 footprint is minimal: two /24s (512 addresses) against six IPv6 prefixes — an unusually IPv6-weighted inventory for a legacy ASN, and a sign the network was built out long after the v4 free pool ran dry.
• Only three observed BGP neighbours, and the prefixes were first seen in 2016. The AS number is low, but the routing history is not: this is a modern network operating an early-numbered ASN, so no early-internet claim is made for it.
• No PTRs were returned on the addresses sampled. That is not proof the zones are undelegated — it simply means reverse DNS offers no independent read here, and the classification rests on the operator's stated business.
• A distinct AS8666 should not be confused with AS33890, also registered to FiberLink GmbH.
