AS7201 AS-NETWORKEDGE

The network of Network Edge LLC, a small Michigan network and hosting operator based in

Southfield, announced under the handle AS-NETWORKEDGE. ARIN registered the ASN to it in

2025, so despite the low number this is a recent reassignment with no early-internet

pedigree.

What it's used for

• Originating a handful of /24s plus its own IPv6 /44 (2602:f99f::/44, a direct ARIN allocation), peering at several US internet exchanges from Detroit-area datacentre space.

Notable

• The IPv4 it announces is not its own: the blocks resolve to reverse DNS under ColocationAmerica.com and register in ARIN as "Private Customer" reassignments, with another prefix assigned to Interconnecx. The only address space Network Edge holds directly is the IPv6 allocation.
• That combination — a modern ASN, borrowed IPv4, own IPv6, IX peering out of colocation facilities — is the shape of a small hosting and connectivity provider rather than an eyeball or transit network.

Interesting

• Low AS numbers like this one are periodically returned to the free pool and reissued. A 2025 registration date is the tell that AS7201's history and its current holder have nothing to do with each other.
