RTSNET-AS is registered to the *Non-profit Partnership for the Development of

the Financial Market RTS* ("NP RTS"), the Moscow organisation founded in 1995 by

market professionals to build Russia's over-the-counter securities trading

system.

What it's used for

• Network infrastructure for RTS's financial-market platforms — trading, market data and connectivity for member brokerages and institutional participants.
• Announces roughly 16,000 IPv4 addresses, mostly from a legacy 194.247.128.0/19 and 212.5.224.0/19, plus a v6 block.

Notable

• Exchange and trading-platform networks are a distinct kind: the address space is not consumer, hosting or transit, but market infrastructure — cross-connects and low-latency links to the firms that trade on the venue.
• The RTS exchange itself merged with MICEX in December 2011 to form the Moscow Exchange. The non-profit partnership that had originally created RTS did not disappear in that merger; it continued as a separate entity operating its own financial-market projects, and it is that entity that still holds this AS.

Interesting

• The handle outlived the exchange it was named for. If you looked only at the AS name you would go hunting for a stock market that stopped existing under that brand in 2011.
