What it's used for

This is a regional access network, and the reverse DNS says so plainly. Sampled PTRs land on CUST-176-5.mwtn.net, PPPoE-53-5.MWTN.NET, and city-tagged names such as UNUSED.CHEYENNE.MWTN.NET and CY-TRAN-75-5.mwtn.net. Customer-numbered hostnames and PPPoE session names are the signature of subscriber access rather than server hosting: the address is handed to a home or small-business circuit as it comes online. The company sells fibre and fixed wireless across Casper, Cheyenne, Wheatland, Torrington and a string of smaller Wyoming towns, and the routed space is what those subscribers sit behind.
