AS9274 PUSAN-AS-KR Pusan National University

AS9274 (PUSAN-AS-KR) is held by Pusan National University, one of South Korea's ten flagship national universities, based in Busan. It is the university's own campus network: a single institution routing its own address space, with no commercial or transit function.

What it's used for

Almost the entire footprint is one legacy /16-worth of space, 164.125.0.0/16, announced as a set of covering prefixes — two /18s, three /19s, two /20s and a scattering of /22s and /24s — plus a 203.232.240.0/21. Together that is 15 IPv4 prefixes and roughly 67,584 addresses, with no IPv6 announced and just one observed BGP neighbour. That single upstream is the strongest signal in the pack: a network with one path to the outside world is by definition an end site, not a provider. The generous address holding (a legacy 164.125/16 class-B-era block) reflects when the network was registered rather than how many devices it has today; Korean flagship national universities were early adopters of the internet and hold correspondingly large blocks. The deaggregation into /18s and /19s is internal campus structure being announced, not customer assignment.

Notable

• The university operates across several campuses — the main Busan campus in Geumjeong-gu, plus Ami, Miryang and Yangsan — and one AS covers the lot.
• No IPv6 is announced at all, which is worth knowing if you expect a research-and-education network to be dual-stacked.
• Traffic from 164.125.0.0/16 is institutional: staff, students, labs and university-run services. It is not a hosting network, despite the size of the block.
