AS9255 CONNECTPLUS-AS Singapore Telecom

AS9255 (CONNECTPLUS-AS) is registered to Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) and carries the name of ConnectPlus, Singtel's managed IP-VPN and enterprise connectivity product line. It sits inside the Singtel group alongside the carrier's other autonomous systems and takes its routes through them.

What it's used for

The evidence points two ways, and both are worth stating. RIS sees 38 IPv4 prefixes carrying 25,088 addresses, 50 IPv6 prefixes, and 41 observed neighbours.

The IPv6 side reads as enterprise service: 50-odd prefixes, almost all individual /48s out of 2001:c20::, which is the classic shape of per-customer assignments handed to sites on a managed VPN. The long tail of the IPv4 table says the same thing — single /24s pulled from unrelated ranges (194.124.188.0/24, 158.155.250.0/24, 157.234.216.0/24, 103.102.235.0/24), the kind of scattered small blocks that accumulate when a carrier routes address space on behalf of business customers.

But the largest blocks tell a different story. The 151.192.0.0 /21s and the 118.201.16.0/20 resolve under singnet.com.sg with broadband-style templated names (bb151-192-16-5.singnet.com.sg). SingNet is Singtel's consumer ISP brand. So the same AS is announcing space that carries SingNet's broadband naming convention alongside what look like enterprise customer routes. The honest reading is that this is a Singtel-group AS whose inventory is mixed, and that the ConnectPlus name describes the product it was created for rather than the whole of what it now carries.

• Singtel operates several autonomous systems; AS9255 takes transit from the group's own networks rather than standing alone.
• Do not read the SingNet PTRs as making this the consumer eyeball AS, and do not read the ConnectPlus handle as making it purely enterprise. The routing table contains both.
