AS8995 JOGBACK

JOGBACK is a small personal autonomous system, registered to an individual (Lars Michael Jogbäck) in Upplands Väsby, north of Stockholm, and operated under the name Jogback dot Net.

What it's used for

• A one-person network. It announces a single IPv4 /24 (192.165.82.0/24, assigned in 2002) plus an IPv6 /48, and the reverse DNS that resolves points at hosts inside jogback.se, alongside RFC 2317 classless delegations for parts of the /24.
• There is no evidence of a commercial product: no subscriber pools, no hosting-style naming, no downstream customers.

Notable

• Not classifiable into a normal service kind. This is an individual's own address space rather than an ISP, a hosting network or a corporate network, so it should not be geolocated or bucketed as any of those.
• Despite the tiny size, it is well connected for a personal AS, peering with a couple of dozen networks — the typical shape of a Swedish network engineer's AS present on the Stockholm exchanges.

Interesting

• The RIR objects have been stable since the early 2000s, so the low AS number here really is an old assignment rather than a recent reissue: a reminder that individuals could and did get their own ASNs.
