EDGE / "ta GCI Com" is GCI Network Solutions Limited, the UK managed-services

and business-connectivity operator that now trades as Nasstar. The handle is a

fossil of the Edge Telecom lineage the AS came in on.

What it's used for

• Business connectivity and managed IT for UK corporate and public-sector customers. The sampled reverse names are unmistakably B2B access rather than consumer broadband: ecc-customer.router.eclipse.net.uk (a customer edge router) and static-DSL naming in the uk.dsl.sta.u.tv zone — note the sta, for static.

Notable

• The inventory reads as an accretion of absorbed UK ISPs. The reverse-DNS zones carry the names of Eclipse Internet and UTV Internet (u.tv), two operators whose business bases were rolled up through the KCOM/GCI/Nasstar chain of acquisitions — the addresses moved but the zones never got renamed.
• Announced space is highly fragmented — dozens of /24s and /22s spread across several unrelated legacy RIPE ranges (62.x, 86.54.x, 194.46.x, 217.154.x, 213.218.x). That scatter is inherited from the acquisitions, not assembled.
• Card the network, not the brand: a name-only read of "GCI" or an eyeball-ISP reverse name would file this as consumer broadband. The static-DSL and customer-router naming says otherwise.
