Slovanet a.s. (SLOVANET) is one of Slovakia's larger alternative telecom

operators, with nationwide coverage and a service mix spanning DSL, fibre and

fixed-wireless internet, voice and TV, sold to households, small companies and

corporate customers alike.

What it's used for

• Mass-market broadband access plus business connectivity, wholesale and data services. Roughly 18,000 IPv4 addresses across a small number of large blocks (195.28.64.0/19, 195.80.160.0/19), plus IPv6.
• The rDNS is a map of the company's acquisition history rather than one clean scheme. Generic subscriber pools appear as IP-A-B-C-D.slovanet.sk, while older absorbed networks keep their own zones: viapvt.sk and psg.sk, the latter with per-town labels (bb Banská Bystrica, zv Zvolen, tn Trenčín) and .wlan. subtrees full of personal-surname hosts.

Notable

• Those .wlan. names carrying subscriber surnames are the strongest single signal here: this is end-user access space, not a hosting or corporate estate.
• Business customers are mixed into the same blocks — named hosts belonging to Slovak firms and public bodies sit a few addresses away from wireless subscribers — so treat the space as eyeball-first but not eyeball-only.
• Well peered for its size, with dozens of BGP neighbours, which fits an operator that also does wholesale for smaller regional ISPs.

Interesting

• Slovanet grew by buying regional providers (cable, WiMAX and fibre operators across the country) rather than building one national footprint. Its reverse DNS never got tidied up afterwards, which is why several unrelated domains still answer for addresses it originates.
