Sure (SURE-INTERNATIONAL-LIMITED) is the incumbent telecoms operator of the

Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, descended from Cable & Wireless's island

businesses and now owned by Bahrain's Batelco group.

What it's used for

• Retail fixed broadband and mobile service across Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man. The rDNS is unusually legible about this: subscriber addresses carry bbdIP-ADDR.network.sure.com (broadband), bbdjIP-ADDR.network.sure.com (the Jersey pools), bbd_iom_IP-ADDR.network.sure.com (Isle of Man) and mblIP-ADDR.network.sure.com (mobile).
• A minority of the space is business connectivity, where named customer hosts appear directly (for example an Isle of Man company's mail and remote-access hosts inside 62.68.188.0/22).

Notable

• Roughly 69,000 IPv4 addresses over about 70 prefixes, with a wide peering footprint for an island carrier — Sure also runs subsea and satellite capacity into small territories, and the AS number dates from the Cable & Wireless era (the RIPE contact objects still carry CWGG handles).
• Every announced block is registered to Sure itself under GG-SURE-GUERNSEY-* netnames, registered variously to Guernsey and Jersey. The address space is genuinely islands-based, not a scattered inventory.

Interesting

• Sure's territory is far larger than the Channel Islands: the group has long held the telecoms licences for the South Atlantic islands, so the same brand serves communities with a few hundred customers apiece.
