METRO Digital GmbH (MSYS), the in-house technology company of METRO AG, the

German international wholesale and food-service group (Metro Cash & Carry, Makro).

The AS carries METRO's corporate network.

What it's used for

• Corporate IT for a global wholesaler: store and depot connectivity, back-office systems, and the digital products METRO Digital builds for METRO's operating countries.
• The MSYS handle is a survivor of "Metro Systems", the group's former IT arm, which was rebranded METRO Digital.

Notable

• The inventory is large but coherent: legacy 164.61.0.0/16 and 164.139.0.0/16 space alongside 194.99.0.0/16 blocks, all registered to the METRO group rather than to third parties.
• No PTRs came back on the addresses sampled inside those prefixes, which is unremarkable for internal enterprise space (it is not evidence that the reverse zones are undelegated).

Interesting

• METRO is a wholesaler rather than a consumer retailer in most markets, so this is enterprise and store-network address space, not a public-facing hosting or eyeball network. An IP here is far more likely to be a corporate device than a customer.
