AS8374 PLUSNET Plus network operator in Poland

PLUSNET is the routing AS of Polkomtel Sp. z o.o., the Polish operator behind

the Plus mobile brand. It is registered to Polkomtel and carries the Plus

network's subscriber traffic.

What it's used for

• Mobile internet for Plus subscribers. Reverse DNS is unambiguous: addresses resolve as apn-IP-ADDR.dynamic.gprs.plus.pl, with a matching apn-IP-ADDR.static.gprs.plus.pl form on the ranges sold with fixed addressing.
• Fixed-wireless and LTE home internet, which Plus markets heavily in Poland alongside the phone business.

Notable

• An eyeball network, and specifically a mobile one. The gprs in the reverse names marks the space as packet-core addressing handed to handsets and routers, not to servers, so it geolocates to subscribers rather than to datacentres.
• Roughly 420,000 IPv4 addresses across a modest number of large blocks (37.248.0.0/16, 46.76.0.0/15, 37.109.0.0/16 and others), which is the shape of a national mobile core rather than a hosting inventory.
• Plus is part of the Cyfrowy Polsat group, which pairs the mobile network with a large Polish media and pay-TV business.

Interesting

• The handle is a name trap. This is not the British ISP Plusnet, a BT brand that is a different AS entirely. The Polish "PLUSNET" is simply the network arm of Plus, and for years Polkomtel's network company was actually named PLUS NET Sp. z o.o. before it was folded back into Polkomtel.
