KABSI-AS is kabelplus GmbH, an Austrian cable operator serving Lower Austria and

neighbouring regions. Its internet service is branded kabsi, and the AS carries the

company's cable-broadband subscribers.

What it's used for

• Residential cable broadband. The dominant reverse-DNS pattern across the space is hA.B.C.DDD.dyn.cm.kabsi.at — dyn for dynamic, cm for cable modem. That naming covers large stretches of the announced ranges and is unambiguous subscriber addressing.
• Business and static customer space under the bnet.at brand appears alongside it, with IP-WITH-DASHES.static.bnet.at and .customer.bnet.at naming, so the AS carries both consumer and SME connections.
• Operator infrastructure (nameservers, outbound mail relays) resolves under kabelplus.at and kabsi.at directly.
• Roughly 240k IPv4 addresses across about thirty prefixes, anchored by a large legacy 62.40.128.0/17.

Notable

• Eyeball network. Addresses in the dynamic cable pools belong to Austrian households and rotate between them. Geolocate regionally in Austria, and expect consumer behaviour.
• The bnet.at naming is a separate brand inside the same AS, not a separate operator. Static assignments under it are business customers of the same cable network.

Interesting

• The AS announces 202.170.80.0/21, an APNIC-range block that was transferred to the RIPE region in 2022 and is now used for Austrian cable subscribers. Anything that infers geography from the traditional Asia-Pacific 202/8 allocation will place these households on the wrong continent.
