ECRITEL-FRANCE is Ecritel, a French managed-hosting and cloud provider. It

runs e-commerce and business platforms for its customers out of its own

datacentres, with a footprint in France and further sites abroad.

What it's used for

• Managed and shared hosting. The reverse DNS says so plainly: customer machines resolve under ecritel.net with names like CLUSTER2-FR-VSMUTU003-CUSTOMERNAME-NNN.ECRITEL.NET, where MUTU is the French abbreviation for mutualisé (shared hosting) and the customer's own name is baked into the hostname.
• A large second family of names sits under oxyd.net (87-252-NNN-NNN.oxyd.net, frontal03.mutu.oxyd.net, sitebuilder2.oxyd.net), the domain of a French hoster now inside Ecritel. Legacy SDSL access names under VISP.SDSL.ECRITEL.NET survive from an earlier connectivity business.
• Some space carries client.ecritel.ca names, so the AS also fronts the group's Canadian operation.

Notable

• Server space, not eyeball space. Addresses here are shared-hosting front ends, VMs and customer platforms. They geolocate to datacentres, and a single address can sit in front of many customer sites.
• The inventory is broad for the size: dozens of prefixes drawn from several older European blocks (87.252.0.0/19, 213.182.32.0/19, 213.218.128.0/19) plus ARIN-registered ranges for the North American side.
• Because it is shared hosting, individual addresses should not be attributed to a single organisation on the strength of one reverse name.
