AS8285 VERSIA

VERSIA is Versija SIA, a Riga-based Latvian internet provider trading as

VERnet. It is one of the older commercial networks in Latvia and also carries

the heritage of EUnet Latvia, whose domain still appears in its reverse DNS.

What it's used for

• Business-grade internet access, leased connectivity and web hosting for Latvian organisations. The company markets itself around business connectivity rather than mass-market consumer broadband, and the address space shows no dial-up or DSL-style subscriber pools.
• The AS also provides transit to a handful of downstream networks.

Notable

• The core inventory is its own legacy Latvian space: 193.68.64.0/19 (registered to the company in 1996), a 213.21.192.0/18 block and the small 194.8.5.0–194.8.8.0 range. That is a genuinely early allocation, from the period when a national ISP could still get a large classful-era block.
• Reverse DNS is sparse and mixed. Where it exists it lands on Latvian company sites and on EUnet.lv hosting names such as host4u.EUnet.lv, which is what a business ISP with a hosting arm looks like.

Interesting

• A few of the announced /24s are registered to third parties rather than to Versija (a Latvian IT firm, a Latvian LLC, and a Netherlands-registered netname). Most sit inside blocks the company itself holds, so these read as customer sub-assignments, but it does mean individual /24s here should not all be geolocated or attributed to the holder.
