AS8282 BINK Bink Group Ltd

BINK is the network of Bink Group Ltd, a UK operator selling hosting,

transit and colocation out of Telehouse London, with an open peering policy

and sessions at both LINX LON1 and LON2. The group also stands behind Fido.net

(FidoNet Registration Services), a long-running UK ISP and hosting brand.

What it's used for

• Server hosting and IP transit. Reverse DNS across the space is server-shaped: web-22.server.fido.net, bab.server.fido.net, lon-core-gw.access.fido.net, and router interfaces named for the peer they face, in the form as61337.ge.as8282.net.
• The AS peers with a large number of networks relative to its address count, which is the signature of a London exchange-connected host rather than an access provider.

Notable

• The larger blocks are the LIR's own allocations (netnames of the form UK-IPASSETS- plus a date), alongside a handful of legacy UK /24s registered to named British companies and to FidoNet itself, including an anycast DNS /24. These are coherent UK customer and group prefixes, not assembled multi-RIR space.
• One name to keep straight: several related entities orbit this network (Bink Group, Bink Networks, Bink Broadband, Fido.net), and prefixes and ASNs are spread across them. The rDNS is the thing that tells you which brand a given address is actually serving.
