AS8280 SYNAPSECOM-AS SYNAPSECOM TELECOMS S.A.

SYNAPSECOM-AS is the network of Synapsecom Telecoms S.A., an Athens-based

Greek carrier and data-centre operator founded in 2007. It runs carrier-neutral

colocation facilities in Athens (Ano Liosia) and Thessaloniki, and sells

IP transit, leased lines, cloud and IaaS.

What it's used for

• Colocation, cloud and IP transit for Greek and regional customers. The AS peers widely and shows a large neighbour count for its size, which is what a transit and peering-heavy data-centre network looks like.
• Its own RIPE allocations (78.108.32.0/20, 46.227.56.0/21, 185.51.132.0/22) carry the netnames GR-SYNAPSECOM-20070613 and GR-SYNAPSECOM-20110127.

Notable

• Not all the space is Synapsecom's own. Several announced /24s are registered to third parties and clearly labelled as such: 212.52.16.0/24, 151.236.29.0/24 and 188.190.25.0/24 all carry the description "EDIS Infrastructure in Greece" and are maintained by the Austrian hosting provider EDIS, and another /24 belongs to a Bulgarian data-services company. These are hosting tenants and transit customers, not brokered address space.
• Consequently an address in this AS may belong to a customer's brand rather than Synapsecom, but the country is reliable: EDIS's blocks here are registered to Greece and sit in Synapsecom's Greek facilities.
• Little reverse DNS on Synapsecom's own allocations, which is normal for colocation space named by the tenant, not the landlord.
