Wire Oy** (gw.fi, lir@global-wire.fi), based in Lappeenranta, which describes

itself as providing turnkey security solutions for network connectivity.

What it's used for

• Global Wire's own network and the connectivity it provides to its customers, announced from a handful of prefixes — a RIPE /22 plus a legacy ARIN /24.
• Router and gateway infrastructure across several Finnish sites: the rDNS is built from three-letter city codes, e.g. vrrp-300.lpr.gw.fi and rns.kau.gw.fi.

Notable

• The name is a trap. "Trans-Atlantic Communications" sounds like a US or transatlantic carrier; the AS is a small Finnish operator, and its addresses belong in Finland, not North America.
• No subscriber-style rDNS appears anywhere in the space — only named gateway and service hosts. This is not an eyeball network.

Interesting

• The ASN was registered with ARIN in 1997, from the era when a European network could still take resources from what became the North American registry — hence the odd mix of an ARIN ASN and legacy /24 with modern RIPE space.
