AS7908 SENCINET LATAM ARGENTINA SA

Sencinet LATAM Argentina SA is the Argentine arm of Sencinet, the company

formed in 2020 when CIH Telecommunications Americas bought British Telecom's

domestic Latin American operations. The AS is still labelled BT LatAm in some

peering records.

What it's used for

• Corporate and government connectivity in Argentina: managed WAN and MPLS, satellite links, data-centre services and enterprise internet access, sold to businesses rather than to households.
• The inventory is around 45,000 IPv4 addresses across roughly 110 prefixes, almost all of it in 200.47.0.0/16 and 200.89.0.0/16 from LACNIC, plus an IPv6 /32.

Notable

• Reverse DNS is uniform and generic — 200-47-NNN-N.sencinet.com and lineN.sencinet.com — with none of the pppoe-, dsl- or cable- markers that identify a consumer access network. This is a B2B carrier's address space, so it should not be treated as eyeball space despite its size.
• The ASN was registered in February 1997, so the low number is a genuine early Argentine allocation that has survived several changes of owner: the network passed through BT's Latin American business before the 2020 sale.

Interesting

• The name on the AS has changed more than once while the address space stayed put — a good reminder that a corporate rebrand does not change what the prefixes actually carry.
