AS7849 APC-CC

APC-CC is registered today to RingSquared CC, the New Jersey-based RingSquared group's entity for Crocker Communications, a Greenfield and Springfield, Massachusetts telecom founded in 1963. RingSquared completed the acquisition of Crocker in October 2024, and the AS came with it.

• Regional connectivity in western Massachusetts: internet access, business phone systems, managed Wi-Fi and cabling for a customer base Crocker described as roughly two thousand government, education and residential accounts.
• The address space is a single legacy allocation, 161.77.0.0/16, still registered under the network name CROCKERNET with a 1992 ARIN registration date. It is announced as the /16 plus a scattering of more-specifics.
• AS7849 sits behind AccessPlus (a sibling company in the same group) and has one downstream, RingSquared's AS22301.

Notable

• The customer mix is genuinely split across kinds — municipal and school accounts alongside home subscribers — and the space carries no public reverse DNS to separate them, so the AS resists a single confident classification. It should not be treated as pure consumer eyeball space or pure business space.
• The registered contact on the /16 is still Crocker Communications in Greenfield, Massachusetts, while the AS holder record now points at Mahwah, New Jersey. Geolocation should follow the network, which is in western Massachusetts, not the corporate headquarters.

Interesting

• Crocker began life in 1963 as a regional telephone answering service and ended up holding a 1992-vintage Class B. The ARIN records still read CROCKERNET decades after the company stopped being a phone-answering business, and now several months after it stopped being a company at all.
