AS7795 LUMOS

LUMOS is registered to LUMOS Networks, Inc., but every technical and abuse

contact on the ARIN record is at segra.com: the network is operated by Segra, the

fibre carrier built from the old Lumos Networks and Spirit Communications.

What it's used for

• Fibre-based carrier and enterprise connectivity across Virginia and the wider mid-Atlantic and southeast — the successor to nTelos's wireline network.
• The customers visible in reverse DNS are institutional: a state university, city governments, a public library system, and assorted businesses numbered out of Segra's blocks. Unassigned space still resolves as IP-ADDR.unassigned.ntelos.net, and some legacy fixed-wireless CPE naming survives on ntelos.net too.

Notable

• Three company names are layered on one AS: the rDNS says nTelos, the registry says Lumos, the contacts say Segra. The rDNS is the oldest layer and the registry name the middle one; the contacts are the current truth.
• Do not read the "Lumos" name as a consumer ISP. The traffic-bearing space here is business, government and education access, not a residential subscriber pool.

• Registered with ARIN in January 1997, when the holder was still part of the nTelos family — an unbroken registration through three rebrands and two ownership changes.
