HCNGYEONGBUK-AS-KR is the Gyeongbuk regional arm of HCN, a South Korean cable multi-system operator. Based in Pohang, it serves North Gyeongsang Province with cable television and broadband.

• Consumer cable broadband. The ASN announces roughly 84 prefixes, almost all /22s, scattered across 27.35.x, 39.126.x, 49.142-143.x, 110.35.x, 111.118.x, 114.30.x, 114.199.x, 115.69.x, 118.91.x and 122.202.x — around 83,000 addresses in total.
• That inventory shape is characteristic of a regional cable operator: many small, non-contiguous subscriber blocks acquired over time as the footprint grew, rather than one large clean allocation.

Notable

• This is eyeball address space. Traffic from it is residential cable-modem subscribers in and around Pohang, not hosting or corporate systems.
• Reverse DNS is essentially absent across the whole range, which is normal for Korean cable operators but means the registry records rather than the DNS are what identify it.

Interesting

• The holder has changed hands and names repeatedly while the ASN and its handle stayed put. It began as Hyundai HCN ("HY Communication & Network"), was bought by KT Skylife in 2021 for around 491 billion won, was rebranded simply HCN (re-glossed as "Hyper-Connected Network"), and became KT HCN in March 2025. The APNIC name still reads "Gyeongbuk Cable TV".
