FRONTIER is Frontier Networks Inc., a Toronto-based Canadian broadband

aggregator and reseller. It is not Frontier Communications, the large US

telco — different company, different country.

What it's used for

• Reselling last-mile broadband across Canada: it interconnects with the incumbent cable and telephone carriers and with regional WISPs, then delivers service under its own addressing.
• Announces about 126,000 IPv4 addresses across roughly 100 prefixes, anchored by 45.2.0.0/16, plus IPv6 2605:8100::/32.
• Also sells VoIP, colocation at 151 Front Street in Toronto, and wholesale carrier services.

Notable

• Reverse DNS is the giveaway: subscriber addresses resolve to names like cbl-45-2-24-5.yyz.frontiernetworks.ca — cbl for cable, with airport codes (yyz Toronto, yvr Vancouver) marking the market. That is an eyeball network with real end-user pools, not a pure transit or hosting AS.
• The customer mix spans both homes and businesses, since a broadband aggregator sells whatever last mile it can reach — including rural and underserved areas the incumbents neglect.

• The name collision with US Frontier Communications ([AS5650](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS5650)) is one of the more reliable traps in ASN lookups: identical brand, unrelated networks.
