CYTA-NETWORK is the main autonomous system of the Cyprus Telecommunications

Authority (Cyta), the island's incumbent, state-owned telecommunications

operator.

What it's used for

• Retail internet access for Cyprus. This is Cyta's eyeball network, carrying the bulk of the country's fixed broadband subscribers along with business connectivity and Cyta's own service platforms.

Notable

• Reverse DNS makes the subscriber character of the space obvious: consumer broadband customers resolve under internethome.cytanet.com.cy, and the wider access pools sit under netrun.cytanet.com.cy.
• With well over half a million IPv4 addresses across roughly 160 prefixes, plus substantial IPv6, this is by a wide margin the largest single network in Cyprus and effectively the country's default route for households.

Interesting

• Cyta also operates internationally through subsidiaries and landing stations, which is why the same brand appears on submarine-cable and wholesale services in the Eastern Mediterranean.
