is literally named after the autonomous system — the RIPE registrant reads

"AS6723" LIMITED LIABILITY COMPANY — and its routers carry both as6723.net

and skif.com.ua reverse DNS.

What it's used for

• Corporate connectivity over fibre across Kyiv and its suburbs, with the operator's own coverage concentrated in office and business centres.
• Handing IP space and BGP sessions to customers who do not have their own address ranges or AS number, which is why customer-facing pools appear directly under this AS.

Notable

• This is a B2B access network, not a consumer broadband provider. The operator's own marketing and its inventory agree on that, which is not always the case.
• It connects to Ukraine's main exchange points, so it is well-meshed domestically rather than dependent on a single upstream.

Interesting

• The registry handle is UA-XAIM and the maintainer is XAIM-MNT, neither of which has anything to do with the SKIF brand. These are fossils from an earlier holder of the number, left in place through the change of hands — a good reminder that a RIPE handle records history, not the current operator.
