AS6703 ALKAR-AS

ALKAR-AS is the main network of PrJSC Farlep-Invest, which trades under the

Vega brand — one of Ukraine's largest fixed-line telecom operators. Vega is

part of the Vodafone Ukraine group.

What it's used for

• Fixed broadband and telephony for homes and businesses across Ukraine, plus business connectivity, IP transit and data-centre services.
• Announces roughly 153,000 IPv4 addresses across around 175 prefixes. Reverse DNS resolves under vega-ua.net, with city tags in the names (…od.vega-ua.net for Odesa) and separate static. ranges for fixed-address customers — the classic layout of an eyeball network that also sells to businesses.

Notable

• Vega was assembled from a number of regional Ukrainian operators, and the fragmented prefix list reflects that history: many small blocks from unrelated ranges rather than a few large contiguous allocations.
• The ALKAR handle is a fossil: it matches neither the registrant's legal name nor the brand the company actually sells under, and survives only because AS names are rarely changed.

Interesting

• Vega's fixed-line footprint made it a natural fit for Vodafone Ukraine, whose own business is mobile — the acquisition paired a mobile operator with a national fibre and copper network rather than merging two of the same thing.
