AS6614 USCC-ASN

The mobile network of UScellular, the Chicago-area regional wireless carrier,

registered under the handle USCC-ASN. T-Mobile USA completed its acquisition of

UScellular's wireless operations in 2025 and is now the registrant of record.

What it's used for

• Addressing for wireless subscribers. The AS announces large blocks out of 166.0.0.0/8 mobile space, and reverse DNS on them still follows the …mobile.uscc.net pattern from the UScellular era.

Notable

• This is mobile carrier address space. Addresses are handed to phones and other cellular devices, rotate between subscribers, and are frequently shared behind carrier-grade NAT, so a single address maps poorly to a single user or place.
• Geolocation on mobile space is coarse by nature. UScellular's footprint covered much of the rural Midwest, Northwest, and New England.

Interesting

• The ASN is a mid-1990s ARIN allocation that has outlived the company it was issued to. The registrant is now T-Mobile USA, the handle still says USCC, and the reverse DNS still says uscc.net. The UScellular brand is being retired in phases, while the retained towers and spectrum went to a separate successor company.
