AS6596 ASN-BUNGI

The network of Bungi Communications, a small San Francisco Bay Area network

operator registered under the handle ASN-BUNGI. Bungi sells connectivity to

other ISPs, web hosting companies, and small and mid-sized businesses rather than

to consumers.

What it's used for

• IP transit and business connectivity from points of presence in the Bay Area. Reverse DNS on its space resolves to router names such as gateway.sjc.bungi.net, consistent with a network of gateways rather than subscriber pools.
• The AS announces only four IPv4 prefixes and a single IPv6 prefix. The address count is small because Bungi's business is carrying other people's traffic, not numbering end users.

• The technical contact on the ARIN record is David Rand, a long-time figure in Bay Area networking.
