CZIO-ASN is Cruzio, the independent ISP serving Santa Cruz County, California, with fibre, fixed wireless, business connectivity and colocation. It is an access network, not a hosting or transit business.

What it's used for

• RIS observes 15 IPv4 prefixes carrying roughly 30,000 addresses and no IPv6, against six neighbours. Thirty thousand addresses behind a handful of upstreams is a regional eyeball ISP: enough space to number subscribers, nowhere near enough peering to be selling wholesale transit.
• Reverse DNS is dense and first-party. Sampled addresses land on cruzio-<addr>.static.cruzio.net and access-<addr>.static.cruzio.net, with canary.cruzio.com and even an unused-<addr>.cruzio.net placeholder. Static customer naming plus explicit unused-address records is an operator managing its own subscriber pool, and it settles the classification.

• The 69.27.176.0/20 is registered to Coastside Net, Inc. and its addresses answer under coastside.net, including a core1 router. That is not a third-party tell: Cruzio and Coastside.Net, the Half Moon Bay ISP, merged at the end of 2021, so this is intra-group space still wearing its old identity.
• Two smaller blocks are registered to Santa Cruz Community Internet and to the City of Santa Cruz. Announcing a local municipality's and a community network's prefixes is ordinary work for the incumbent independent ISP in the same town.

Interesting

• The 198.202.199.0/24 sample resolves to um-ece-sw.wb6ece.org, a callsign-shaped hostname, hinting at an amateur-radio or community-network user riding on Cruzio's space.
