AS11870 ALTICOR-INC

ALTICOR-INC is Alticor, the privately held Michigan holding company whose main business is Amway, the direct-selling household and nutrition brand. This is a large corporate network run for one company's own use.

What it's used for

Enterprise infrastructure. RIS observes 26 IPv4 prefixes carrying about 66,000 addresses, no IPv6, and six observed BGP neighbours. Nearly all of it comes out of a single legacy /16, 167.23.0.0/16, which is announced both whole and split into its two /17 halves, then further deaggregated into a long tail of /22s, /23s and /24s. That is an internal estate being advertised piecewise for traffic engineering, and it is the opposite of a provider's inventory: 66,000 addresses behind six upstreams is a big enterprise, since a carrier of that address size would peer with hundreds of ASes.

Every prefix registrant checked comes back as ALTICOR-INC, org Alticor Inc. Announcer and registrant are the same company throughout, so nothing here resembles leased or brokered space.

Notable

One prefix stands outside the 167.23.0.0/16 block: 103.44.17.0/24, which sits in APNIC-administered space. Alticor's largest markets are in Asia, so an Asia-Pacific /24 announced from the same AS fits the company rather than contradicting it. Cross-RIR space is only a warning sign when it comes with unrelated registrants, which is not the case here.

Twenty addresses were sampled for reverse DNS and none answered. That is a sample out of 66,000, and no conclusion follows from it.
