LINKCITY is registered to the City of North Kansas City, Missouri and is the AS behind

liNKCity, the city-owned underground fibre network. It is a municipal broadband

operator: the city owns the network and serves homes and businesses in North Kansas City

over it, with day-to-day operation handled by a local partner (KC Fiber).

What it's used for

• FTTH and business fibre access for a single city. RIS sees 3 IPv4 prefixes / 9,216 addresses and one IPv6 /32 (2605:b080::/32).

Notable

• The striking number is 30 observed neighbours against only ~9k addresses. That ratio is the interesting fact about this AS: it peers far more widely than a 9,000-address eyeball network normally would. The natural reading is Kansas City's local exchange point plus a datacenter-adjacent operator's peering habits — a municipal network run by people who came from the colo world will take free peering wherever it is offered, and it shows.
• Two of the three prefixes register to org City of North Kansas City, MO under the telling handles KCF-POOL-01 and KCF-POOL-02 — pools, i.e. subscriber address ranges, which is what an access network's inventory is made of.
• The third, 65.164.172.0/22, is Sprint-era provider-assigned space (netname SPRINTLINK) reassigned to GIGLINX, Inc.
