NEXICOM-CA is Nexicom Inc., an independent telephone company and internet provider serving the Peterborough / Kawartha region of Ontario. The routing data and the reverse DNS agree on what it is: a regional eyeball network selling access to homes and small businesses.

What it's used for

Consumer and small-business internet access over several access technologies at once. RIS sees 15 v4 prefixes totalling 79,872 addresses plus an IPv6 /32, with 27 observed neighbours — a peering count typical of a regional ISP that buys transit and joins a Canadian exchange, not of a wholesale carrier.

The reverse DNS is the decisive evidence, because it names the access technology customer by customer: dyn-dsl-… and dyn-cbm-… (dynamic DSL and cable-modem pools), dyn-wl-bb-… on wireless broadband, stat-… for static assignments, and demarc-gateway for a customer hand-off. Those are subscriber pools, not servers.

The hostnames also map the footprint: bridgenorth, mb, to, pmbr and a wireless.clarington.ontariohighspeed.ca name all sit in the same Ontario service area, and space appears under both nexicom.net and nrtco.net, reflecting the telephone-company side of the business alongside the ISP brand.

Every prefix in the pack is registered in ARIN to Nexicom Inc. itself — the netname handles vary (NEXICOM-5-CA, NEXICOM-76-75-96-0-24 and so on), but the org is the same throughout. Varied netnames with one consistent org is ordinary registry accretion from allocations acquired over time, not the multiple-unrelated-registrant pattern that would suggest leased address space.
