PATHWAY is held by Pathway Communications (pathcom.com), a Toronto provider operating since 1995. It sells business internet, colocation and managed IT services across the Greater Toronto Area, and it is the parent of the Pathway Group, which since 2006 has included the Montreal ISP CitéNet Internet. RIS sees 37 IPv4 prefixes, 50,432 addresses, no IPv6, and 15 observed neighbours.

What it's used for

Access and hosting for Canadian customers, in both flavours. The reverse DNS is unusually informative here and shows two distinct populations. One is end-user access: dial-0005.tor.pathcom.com and dial-1029.tor.pathcom.com in 216.249.8.0/21, rdsl-0005.tor.pathcom.com in 207.188.64.0/19, and ppp05-5.dsl.citenet.net in CitéNet's 209.41.150.0/24 — dial-up and DSL concentrator pools, i.e. subscriber lines. The other is infrastructure: named hosts like ryza.pathcom.com and EgressRouter7.applecreek.pathcom.com, plus generated 66.212.x.tor.pathcom.com blocks that read as provider-assigned server and business space.

Notable

Roughly half the sampled registrants come back as CiteNet Telecom Inc. rather than Pathway (CTI209041128, CITENET-5, CTI206123032). That is not a third-party or leasing tell — CitéNet has been part of the Pathway Group for nearly two decades, and the citenet.net PTRs sit on exactly those blocks. Holder, registrant and hostname all belong to the same corporate group.

Interesting

Fifteen neighbours against fifty thousand addresses says regional ISP, not carrier. The classification is residential because the access pools are the honest signal from the inventory, but hold it loosely: Pathway's own marketing is business-first, the AS clearly carries colocated servers too, and it announces some RIPE-region blocks (185.156.184.0/22, 45.152.56.0/23) our registrant sample did not cover. A single address here may be a home DSL line, a business circuit, or a hosted server.
