AS10780 PURE-STORAGE

PURE-STORAGE is the corporate network of Pure Storage, the Santa Clara enterprise flash-storage vendor. RIS sees 18 IPv4 prefixes carrying 4,608 addresses, one IPv6 /48, and 24 observed neighbours.

What it's used for

Pure Storage's own offices, engineering labs and customer-facing support infrastructure. The footprint is entirely /24-granular and spread across three RIRs, which is the shape a global company with regional sites ends up with rather than anything suspicious: ARIN space in 64.84.64.0, 69.64.21.0 and 208.88.152.0, RIPE space in 37.0.113.0–37.0.119.0, and APNIC space in 103.11.164.0–103.11.167.0. Every one of those prefixes is registered to Pure Storage itself, and the APNIC blocks carry office-level registration names for Singapore and Bangalore, so the multi-RIR scatter maps to real premises rather than to leased or brokered address space.

Notable

The single IPv6 announcement, 2620:125:90d0::/48, is an ARIN direct assignment, and the v6 build is clearly far behind the v4 one. 24 neighbours against under 5,000 addresses is well within enterprise range: a multihomed corporate network buying transit and peering at exchanges in several regions, not a carrier.

Interesting

Reverse DNS on the Bangalore range resolves under intelletrace.net, and Intelletrace also appears as the technical/support contact in ARIN's record for the AS. That is an outsourced network operator wearing its own name on a customer's space, and a good reminder that rDNS tells you who runs a block day to day, never who holds it.
