AS10056 HDMF-AS Hyundai Marin Fire Insurance

HDMF-AS-KR is Hyundai Marine & Fire Insurance, one of South Korea's largest general (non-life) insurers, headquartered in Seoul. AS10056 is a corporate network, not a service-provider one.

What it's used for

The internet edge of an insurance company: policy quotation and claims portals, agent and broker systems, corporate mail and the public web presence. The AS announces 5 IPv4 prefixes totalling 1,280 addresses and no IPv6. Each is a lone /24, and they come from four unrelated ranges — 61.96.143.0, 115.21.8.0, 211.192.0.0 and two out of 220.64.0.0. Scattered /24s from different upstreams' space are exactly what a long-established enterprise accumulates when it adds a new office, a new data-centre link or a new carrier over the years and keeps the addresses that came with each.

Notable

A business/enterprise network. The evidence is the ratio: 1,280 addresses against three observed BGP neighbours. A firm this size runs its own AS so it can multihome and keep its addresses when it changes carrier — that is the whole reason a non-ISP holds an ASN. It sells no connectivity, and the neighbour count proves it; a wholesale carrier would show hundreds of adjacencies rather than three.

Interesting

The Hyundai here is not the carmaker. Hyundai Marine & Fire (branded Hyundai Insurance) split from the wider Hyundai chaebol during its 2000s break-up and is an independent group, so the AS should not be attributed to Hyundai Motor. The name is inherited, not a corporate relationship.
