AS10011 ADVAN advanscope inc.

ADVAN is advanscope inc. (株式会社アドバンスコープ), the community cable and internet operator for Nabari City in western Mie Prefecture. It sells cable TV, FTTH broadband and telephony to households under the ads. brand, and also runs a smaller business arm doing hosting, housing and network build-out.

What it's used for

Residential access. The AS announces 7 IPv4 prefixes totalling 18,432 addresses plus one IPv6 /32 — modest, regional, and consistent with a single-city franchise. The reverse DNS settles what the space carries: dhcp-4598.asint.jp, dhcp-1531.nava21.ne.jp, ftth-00769.asint.jp. Those are pool names handed out to customer equipment, in advanscope's own two service zones (asint.jp and nava21.ne.jp, the latter matching the company's nava21.co.jp corporate site).

Notable

An eyeball network. The dhcp- and ftth- labels name the access technology rather than the customer, but the sequence-numbered pool pattern behind them is the giveaway: addresses are being recycled through a subscriber base, not statically assigned to servers. 13 observed BGP neighbours against 18k addresses is the ordinary silhouette of a small ISP with a couple of upstreams — nothing wholesale about it.

Interesting

The announced blocks are drawn from scattered, unrelated-looking ranges (24.41.112.0/20 is legacy ARIN-era space, alongside APNIC 103/223/219 blocks). That superficially resembles the address-broker shape, but it is not one: every prefix carries first-party reverse DNS in advanscope's own zones, which is the discriminator between a real operator with untidily acquired space and a broker announcing other people's blocks.
