AS9947 (KTC-AS-KR) is held by kt cloud Co., Ltd, the data-centre and cloud subsidiary spun out of KT Corporation (Korea Telecom). The company is Korea's largest colocation operator and runs the IDC estate historically known as KT-IDC, from offices on Hakdong-ro in Gangnam, Seoul.

That is not the routing footprint of Korea's biggest IDC provider; it is the footprint of one small, separately originated block.

The explanation is that the bulk of kt cloud's hosting and colocation address space is announced from KT's other, much larger ASNs, and AS9947 carries only a residual slice of it. Do not read the parent company's scale into this ASN. 61.100.x is legacy KT space, and the two /24s are consecutive — most likely a single IDC facility or one service's addresses that were given their own origin AS rather than folded into the main KT announcements.

• A textbook case of marketing and inventory disagreeing. The name promises a hyperscale cloud provider; the routing table shows 512 addresses. Both are true, because the AS is not where the company's traffic lives.
