AS9942 COMINDICO-AP SOUL Converged Communications Australia

AS9942 (COMINDICO-AP) is registered as SOUL Converged Communications Australia and is maintained today by TPG Internet Pty Ltd (MAINT-AU-TPGCOM). The handle, the registered name and the current maintainer are three different companies, and all three are still visible in the network — this is one of the clearest examples in the AS range of an inherited network that never got renamed.

What it's used for

The reverse DNS reads like a corporate archaeology dig. Sampled addresses resolve under comindico.com.au (fe2-0-201.wsr03-kent-syd, acc05-dryb-mel — Sydney and Melbourne access routers), under soulaustralia.com.au, under sptel.com.au, and under tpgi.com.au for the subscriber-style names such as 203-194-0-5.static.tpgi.com.au. Those are four ownership generations of the same Australian carrier estate, all still answering in the same routed space.

RIS sees 24 IPv4 prefixes covering 176,640 addresses, anchored on 203.220.0.0/15 plus 203.194.0.0/18, 202.168.0.0/18 and the 125.254.0.0/19. One IPv6 prefix, 2404:2800::/32, is announced. The mix of static.tpgi.com.au and unassigned. PTRs is an access-network pattern: pools of customer addresses, some allocated statically, some idle. Only 2 observed neighbours, which is the giveaway that this is no longer an independent carrier — it takes transit from inside the TPG group rather than peering on its own account.
