AS9934 MICOM-MN-AS Mongolia Telecom

AS9934 (MICOM-MN-AS) is held by Mongolia Telecom Company, the country's incumbent fixed-line telephone operator and one of its largest internet providers. The network is run out of Ulaanbaatar and provides fixed telephony and broadband across Mongolia.

What it's used for

This is a fixed-line access network, and the reverse DNS says so directly. Sampled PTRs land on names like brbnd44-5.mng.net (broadband), as5300-5.ub.mng.net — an access-server naming convention, with ub for Ulaanbaatar — and mt-5.mtcone.net, MTC's own corporate domain. Those are subscriber-aggregation and access-concentrator names, not server or hosting names. RIS sees 29 IPv4 prefixes carrying 8,448 addresses, nearly all of it a long run of consecutive /24s out of 202.179.0.0/16, with a single newer 103.242.44.0/22 from APNIC. No IPv6 is announced at all.

The 4 observed neighbours confirms the role. An incumbent carrier that peered widely would show dozens; four says MTC reaches the wider internet through a small handful of upstream transit providers, which is the normal shape for a national operator in a landlocked market with limited international capacity options.
