AS9913 IIG-AS-AP Internet Information Group

AS9913 (IIG-AS-AP) is held by Internet Information Group (IIG), an Australian ISP based at Redlynch near Cairns in North Queensland. IIG started in 1995 selling local-call dial-up and has grown into a small full-service provider: broadband access, domain registration, web and mail hosting, and managed corporate networks, serving customers well beyond its home region.

What it's used for

A regional ISP's own infrastructure plus the customers it hosts. RIS sees 10 IPv4 prefixes totalling 2,560 addresses, one IPv6 prefix (2400:9c20::/32), and a single observed BGP neighbour. Ten /24s behind one upstream is a small independent provider, not a carrier.

Reverse DNS is unusually informative here and confirms the mixed access-plus-hosting model. Infrastructure names appear directly: gw12-100w-bne.iig.au and eth0.gw5.108w.bne.iig.au are router interfaces in Brisbane, h.dns.iig-au.com is a nameserver, and webmail.iig.com.au / manage.iig.com.au are the ISP's own service hosts. Alongside them sit customer names — email.cairnstaxis.com.au, felix.tfs.net.au — and a DSL subscriber template, 202-14-148-133-soho.dsl.iig.com.au. That soho label is the giveaway: this network's access side is aimed at small offices and home offices rather than a mass residential base.

Notable

• The address space is scattered across four unrelated parents (202.14, 203.1, 203.31, 203.57, plus a newer 103.233 range), the normal accretion pattern for an ISP that has been picking up small allocations since the 1990s.
• IIG runs its own mail, DNS and management infrastructure in its space rather than outsourcing it, which is increasingly rare at this size.
