AS9845 CJCKN-AS-KR LG HelloVision Corp.

AS9845 (CJCKN-AS-KR) is held by LG HelloVision Corp., South Korea's largest cable operator and a subsidiary of LG Uplus. The company was previously CJ HelloVision / CJ Hello, and the CJCKN handle preserves that lineage; LG Uplus acquired it and the company took its current name in December 2019. LG HelloVision runs digital cable TV alongside a substantial high-speed internet access business.

What it's used for

The routing evidence is that of a real eyeball network. RIS sees 316 IPv4 prefixes carrying roughly 302,848 addresses, and only three BGP neighbours. That ratio is the point: 300,000 addresses is a large subscriber-scale pool, but three neighbours means the AS sells nothing upstream and has essentially no customer cone. A wholesale carrier with that much space would peer with hundreds of networks. A big address count with almost no neighbours is an access network serving its own users, which is exactly what a cable ISP looks like.

The prefixes back this up. They are dominated by /21s drawn from a handful of contiguous Korean ranges (110.44.0.0, 110.46.0.0, 113.130.0.0, 180.182.0.0, 61.110.0.0), deaggregated into hundreds of small announcements. Splitting large residential pools into per-region /21s and /24s is standard practice for a cable operator carrying subscribers across many local franchise areas.

• No IPv6 is announced by this AS in RIS, despite its size, so the residential estate here is IPv4-only as far as the global table is concerned.
• The handle still says CJ, and the holder is now LG. The name on an AS is not evidence of who runs it.
