AS9770 SPEEDONSTV-AS-KR LG HelloVision Corp.

AS9770 (SPEEDONSTV-AS-KR) is held by LG HelloVision Corp., South Korea's largest cable multiple-system operator. The company was CJ Hello / CJ HelloVision until LG Uplus bought a controlling stake from CJ ENM for around 800 billion won and the deal closed in December 2019, at which point it was renamed. The SPEEDONS in the handle is an older cable-broadband brand and tells you nothing about the current owner.

What it's used for

This is a large eyeball network. RIS shows 157,952 IPv4 addresses across 312 prefixes — by far the biggest footprint in this stretch of the KRNIC range. The base is a set of /18 aggregates (117.53.192.0/18, 117.55.128.0/18, 180.92.64.0/18, 119.18.64.0/18, 118.139.192.0/18), each of which is then re-announced as /19s, /20s and /21s. Three hundred-odd prefixes over five main aggregates is a cable operator advertising its franchise areas separately, which is how regional headends and the subscriber pools behind them get routed independently.

Against 158k addresses there is just one observed BGP neighbour. That single number settles the network's role: a wholesale carrier at this size peers with hundreds or thousands of ASes, so this is an access network serving its own subscribers and taking transit from a single upstream — in practice its parent, LG Uplus. No IPv6 is announced from this ASN.

• LG HelloVision is one of three big Korean cable MSOs absorbed by mobile carriers in 2019–2021, alongside HCN to KT (see [AS9762](https://asn.ipinfo.app/AS9762)) and t-broad to SK Broadband.
